The workshop is delivered by
Lynn Comley
Saturday 17th August 10:30am to 12:30pm
£40
Location: Scampston Walled Garden, The Education Room, Malton, North Yorkshire, YO17 8NG
Join Lynn for an enjoyable morning stitching a Daisy inspired picture.
Workshop participants will hand embroider a daisy picture using a piece of handcrafted felt prepared by Lynn. I will guide you through the embroidery techniques I use.
Each piece of felt has lots of textures which creates an interesting background, a starting point for the daisy design. The Daisies will be the focal point of the picture.
Embroidery threads that compliment the design will be provided. In the allocated time each participant should be able to complete the picture. If not, don't worry you can take the threads to finish at home. I will demonstrate how to mount (string) the work onto conservation board prior to framing, this ensures the work will not fall in the frame in the future. A picture frame and mounting materials will be provided for you to take home a completed picture.
Felt is a surprisingly strong fabric, a lovely medium to stitch into, no two pieces will ever be the same, this should be embraced, this is the time to show your creativity, as the design can be adapted to add your personal mark.

Sue Wood
Sunday 18th August 1.30am - 3.30pm
£40
Location: Scampston Walled Garden, The Education Room, Malton, North Yorkshire, YO17 8NG
Join Sue for a relaxing afternoon creating our favourite garden bird ….the Robin by drawing with Wool.
Workshop participants will create their Robin by needle felting using merino wool fibres.
I will provide a pre-felt background to work on together with a template as a guide, along with the necessary tools and range of coloured fibres required.
This is a relatively small piece of so should be achievable in the time.
I will though also provide swatches of background felt and my botanically printed silk or wool, along with instructions on how to then create the finished artwork.
I will also offer instructions on how to create a branch, twig, tree stump to compliment your Robin, where he can perch, or you may prefer to explore your own creativity and place your Robin in a different setting.
I will provide you the tools and ingredients required, but please take note, that we are using a barbed felting needle, and so some dexterity is required, and please take care, any needle is sharp and pointy!
I can supply a selection of small basic frames which would complement your work and so will be able to create a finished artwork
